A skeleton is a group object. The skeleton
group contains bones, joints, and other Motion Studio objects.
In trueSpace, when you click on a group
object you select the entire group. Most of the time, when
you click on a Motion Studio skeleton, you are trying to
select a joint. For this reason, Motion Studio has a feature
that automatically selects the first joint inside the skeleton (instead of
the skeleton itself) when the skeleton is selected. This feature is called
Auto Drill-Down Select, and can be disabled in the Options
menu.
Sometimes, you will want to select the entire skeleton, so that you can move or rotate it as a single object. You can right-click a skeleton in the Scene List and choose Select to select the entire skeleton group in trueSpace. Clicking the BoneBag in the Scene List will also select the skeleton for moving.
See Keyframing for more information the skeleton group and keyframing.
Note: that the first click on the skeleton selects the first joint in the skeleton (not necessarily the joint clicked on). Once one joint is selected, then all joints are available for selecting. So, at first, it may take two clicks to select a specific joint. After one joint is selected however, it only takes single clicks to select other joints.
Another way to select a particular joint, is by clicking on the matching bone in the Skeleton Items list. The joint selected will be the tip of the clicked bone.
If the skeleton group itself is selected, you may choose press the Down button in trueSpace, or press the down-arrow key to enter the group (normal trueSpace navigation rules). It's usually easiest to select joints using the bone list.
